Abstract

The authors sum up the experimental results testifying the existence of iridium in the oxidation state +IX and then analyze the results of theoretical calculations admitting the hypothetical existence of selected compounds in oxidation states higher than VIII. The second part of the paper is devoted to the proposal of valency suffixes in the Slovak language for the oxidation states IX, X, XI and XII, founded also on linguistic analysis.
